The Gators are already chomping at the 2028 recruiting class. Five-star catcher Ryann Harris announced her verbal commitment to Florida on Sunday. Harris is the eighth overall player in the 2028 class, the second-best catcher, and the second-rated player from Texas.
"I chose Florida because there's so much to love — the people, the atmosphere, and the mindset," Harris told Softball America. "Winning a national championship is the standard there, and it's something I want to be a part of with those people."
Harris is a power bat from the Texas Bombers squad, where she was a force in their AFCS Tier I title run. She has the ability to hit in the middle of a lineup. Over two games, she collected three home runs, consistently posting in-game exit velocities in the upper 70's. She showed adjustability in her swing and favored the inside half of the plate — a strong, well-rounded offensive threat.
Florida has had very strong 2026 and 2027 recruiting classes, but Harris is the premier catcher among the three cycles. It wouldn't be shocking to see her contribute right away once she arrives on campus.
