Texas Tech can use more than just the transfer portal. Star Gutierrez, a 2028 five-star outfielder and 12-ranked overall player, announced her verbal commitment to Texas Tech on Tuesday.

"During my visit, the love and support I received was truly remarkable," Gutierrez told Softball America. "The coaches were incredibly genuine, making it clear that I wasn't just seen as a softball player, but valued as a person. I love what this program stands for, as well as how they compete. Beyond the strong athletic culture, there's exceptional academic support and a real commitment to helping players grow. Above all, it felt like home — and I'm confident that it is."

Gutierrez has been a star for the Warrior Academy that claimed an AFCS Tier I title in 2025. The California native is true lefty, lefty with a sweet, smooth swing. She is balanced in her approach and can utilize the ground for power. Defensively, she can cover gap to gap and goes back on the ball with ease. With a plus arm, she provides the potential to save runs on defense.

Texas Tech fended off UCLA and Stanford for Gutierrez. Texas Tech landed a huge commitment from Hollynn Gentry, one of the top catchers in the 2027 class, and this pledge from Campos shows Texas Tech's commitment into the recruiting cycle as well.
