Florida may have found its next great two-way player. Five-star Kate Losh announced her commitment to the Gators, joining fellow five-star catcher Ryann Harris in Florida's 2028 recruiting class.
"I chose Florida for more than softball — I wanted to be surrounded by excellence in academics and athletics, guided by a coaching staff that builds not just high-level athletes, but leaders and competitors for life," she told Softball America.
Losh is a true two-way talent, possibly following in the footsteps of Lauren Haeger and Aleshia Ocasio, former Florida stars who excelled on both sides of the ball. Losh already eclipses 70 from the circle, with the ability to go up and down with an incredible rise and drop combination.
The Iowa native, who plays for Aces Fastpitch, has strong leg drive off the mound. At 6'1", she carries home run power in the lineup, evident by her winning the Alliance 16U Home Run Derby.
Losh, who also took a visit to Florida State, is the 11th-ranked player in the 2028 class and the second-rated two-way player. The verbals from Losh and Harris make Florida the early favorite for the top-ranked recruiting class.
