Gretta Melsted landed her biggest recruit since taking over the Minnesota program. Emory Whisner, four-star pitcher and the 52nd overall player in the class, announced her commitment to Minnesota on Wednesday.
Whisner is a legitimate two-way player, equally dangerous in the circle and in the batter’s box. In the circle, she pairs plus velocity with the command to work all quadrants of the zone, and a reliable off-speed pitch that keeps hitters guessing and off balance. At the plate, she has real power to the opposite field, driving the ball the other way with authority rather than just serving it there.
Whisner was part of the Turnin2 team that had a great summer and has now produced a handful of Big Ten commits including Aubrey Kresbaugh and Kamryn Stankus.
