Clemson has started its 2028 class with a strong arm in the circle. Left-handed pitcher Addison Ellis announced her commitment to the Tigers late Thursday.
Ellis, a four-star prospect ranked 107th in the Softball America 2028 recruiting rankings, hails from Charles City, Iowa, and represents the Top Gun National organization.
"I chose Clemson because the second I stepped on campus, I knew it was home," Ellis told Softball America. "From the head coach all the way to the graduate assistants, everyone felt like family. Culture was one of my top priorities, and the culture that Coach (John) Rittman and his staff have built is exactly what I was looking for. Being from a small town in Iowa, the way Clemson instantly felt like home is unmatched. I can't wait to be part of the Tiger family."
Ellis is one of the top left-handed pitchers in the class. She works the zone and changes speeds to keep hitters off balance. Her ability to consistently throw the offspeed pitch for a strike has proven invaluable. She's a true competitor in the circle, and as a lefty who can rely on her changeup, she brings a unique addition to any bullpen.
Ellis joins 2027 Clemson commit Zariya Mabion, who also plays for the Top Gun National team. Nationally, most teams are expected to keep their class sizes small this cycle. However, Clemson had only three commits last season, meaning the Tigers can afford to take a bigger class this season. Who will be next to join Ellis? Time will tell.
