Double trouble at Troy. Four-star recruits Katelyn and Aimee Batroff announced their verbal commitments to Troy after the first weekend of the 2028 recruiting cycle.
Katelyn Batroff is ranked 113th in the 2028 Softball America rankings. The catcher from Marietta, Georgia, can also play the outfield. She knows how to hold her front foot to time her swing and has control over her body in space. She is short to contact and is best on pitches on the inner half of the plate.
Aimee Batroff s fundamental and intentional in her swing. She is short to contact, can keep her barrel inside on pitches on the inner half of the plate, and has home run power to the pull side. She is more of a corner infielder with the Athletics Tamborra team.
"When we initially went to camp at Troy about 1.5 years ago, we woke up about 5 minutes away from school," Aimee Batroff told Softball America. "When we asked our dad if we were close, he said 'about 5 minutes away.' We said, 'We don't want to go here.' At the end of the camp, we heard Kyye Ricks talk about coming from South Carolina. She said, 'Look, I know the surrounding area isn't the prettiest, but I came from the big city and school. Troy has been amazing and allows me to concentrate on school and Softball.' When we got back in the car, we told our dad that we wanted to go here.
We've only played on two travel teams our entire career. We were with Coach Pete Hamilton under Stacy Tamborra's organization. Coach Pete always prioritized culture over collecting talent. We felt that same exact vibe at Troy and couldn't resist.
My sister and I were prepared to separate for college, but we were overwhelmed by the calls. When our favorite school called, we were ready to commit immediately.
We make each other stronger by being together. When we had separate calls on 9/1, we weren't as confident as when we were together.
We love this game. We love each other. And we love this game! We're pumped to be staying together."
