The first week of the PGF Nationals is officially over with four champions crowned across the 16U and 18U divisions.

18U Premier PGF Championship Game

Despite a run back to the championship game, Arizona Rising Appel was unable to defend their crown. Georgia Impact Premier Taylor took down the reigning champs with a 7-1 win.

Georgia Impact's lineup is filled with Power Four put together a rally against Goose Goodwin, the Northwestern signee and top pitcher in the 2026 class, in the second inning LSU signee Addie Rackley led off with a walk and Auburn signee Taylor Surratt lined a single into right field to put runners on the corners.

2027 five-star and LSU commit Sydney Gonglik came in as a pinch hitter. She squared up a riseball from Goodwin up and out of the zone, sending it deep into center field. Emma Ford tried to track it down; it bounced off her glove and was ruled a three-run homer as Gonglik went all the way around.

Georgia Impact poured in off in the third, knocking Goodwin out of the game. A pair of walks and an infield single loaded the bases for Auburn signee Cece Springfield, who drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Surratt and South Carolina signee Kadyn Gabrels had two-out singles. Florida signee Nina Carcone reached on a bunt attempt, pushing the lead to six.

2027 Auburn commit Hannah DeMarcus carried her great tournament into the title game. Clemson signee Emma Ford's hot steak also kept going. She tripled past the outstretched glove of Shayla Bahr in center field for a triple. Ford would score, but DeMarcus was on cruise control from there.

DeMarcus went the distance, allowing one unearned run on three hits with eight strikeouts as her riseball was working well. She held Oklahoma signee and No. 1 overall recruit in the 2026 class, Payton Westra hitless in four at-bats with a pair of strikeouts. Most of Arizona Rising top bats couldn't find much outside of Torynn Slaughter's double.

16U Premier PGF Championship Game

Speed and spin highlighted Beverly Bandits Lewis / Moran's 7-1 win over BSC Bengals Briggs. Adeline Shultz, Kira Bailey and Hunter Hopkins quickly set the tone for the Bandits.

Bailey and Hopkins started the game with a pair of singles. Bailey would score the first run of the game in the first on a sacrifice fly. The duo then both drove in runs in the Bandits' four-run second inning. Bailey scored again on a double steal. The top two hitters combined for seven hits in the win.

Shultz, a 2027 Arizona State commit, threw well the entire tournament and continued on Saturday. The lefty's spin stands out, especially against right-handed hitters, as she controlled the outside of the plate. Shultz showcased her ability to change speeds as well. She went six innings, allowing two hits - both in the sixth inning - and striking out six batters.

18U Platinum PGF Championship Game

Unity 16U Attard/Johnson rolled past Lady Dukes Bryant in an 8-0 run-rule win, completing a perfect PGF run in Huntington Beach.

Four-star 2028 pitcher Mackenna Savage starred for Unity. She had her down stuff working well, rolling a ton of groundballs and trusting her defense. She tossed four perfect innings with a pair of strikeouts before handing the ball off to Kenzie Jackson to close out the combined perfect game.

Kameron and Payton Piercy had very defensive plays up the middle behind their pitchers. They also combined for three RBIs.

On offense, Unity made a ton of contact. Eight of the team's starters in the lineup finished with at least one hit, including Savage, who led the team in total bases.

18U Platinum PGF Championship Game

This game came down to the last pitch. Mississippi State commit Lacy VanTuinen blasted a three-run walk-off home run, lifting Athletics Mercado Potter-Hovermale to a 5-2 win over Athletics Gold Tamborra-Freeman.

VanTuinen was given the chance after Harvard commit Tiffany Villegas had a double and Oregon signee Kylie Tafua was intentionally walked to set up a potential double play.

Technically, all five runs came off the bat of VanTuinen. After a pair of walks and a single from Tafua, VanTuinen hit a tough bouncer to Emily Bogoski, who tried the in-between hop. She tried to flip it to second base but the throw was a bit off line, allowing two runs to score.

Michigan signee Mia Valbuena rolled through the first five innings without much trouble. Athletics Gold finally got a rally going in the sixth. Georgia Tech signee Donee Morain put down a bunt single to lead off. Eva Davis and Abby Thacker dropped a pair of bloop singles to load the bases.

Bogoski redeemed herself with an RBI single up the middle. FGCU signee Riley Huckaby tied the game with an opposite field line drive to tie the game. Valbuena responded to strand two runners in scoring position and keep the score knotted at two. The future Wolverine went the distance, allowing the two runs on six hits and striking out nine, using her riseball very well.
