LSU didn't wait long to start its pursuit of another top recruiting class. Louisiana native and five-star corner infielder Joley Bennett pledged to her hometown school on opening weekend.
"Ever since I was a little girl, I've dreamed of wearing an LSU uniform, so getting the chance to make that dream a reality means more than I can put into words," Bennett told Softball America. "LSU has always felt like home, and the coaches here are truly amazing — I'm so grateful for the way they've believed in me, supported me, and given me this opportunity. Being able to stay home, represent the state that raised me, and play for a program that means so much to Louisiana is such a special privilege. I couldn't be more blessed or grateful to represent LSU."
Bennett is coming off a strong summer with the Texas Bombers, who claimed the AFCS Tier I title at the 16U level. She projects as an elite-level talent at the next level. She's got a plus arm and the athleticism to attack bunts, including the ability to field and throw off one foot. Her game IQ stands out, she competes without hesitation, and she brings plus raw power to the plate. That bat profiles as a middle-of-the-order threat at the next level.
Bennett, who plans to major in kinesiology, said before her visit that she sought out a competitive but fun coaching staff. Once again, Beth Torina and Bryce Neal have done an excellent job using their resources to land another five-star recruit.
LSU is far from done, already holding a contingent of Top 100 recruits, including fellow five-star Kylie Holden.
