The Aggies have found their backstop of the future. Five-star catcher Emma Johnson announced her commitment to Texas A&M on Sunday.
"The Aggie atmosphere and culture immediately resonated with me — it felt like home from the start," she told Softball America.
Johnson, a California native from the Lady Magic organization, is the top-rated catcher and seventh-overall player in the 2028 Softball America rankings. She is the first Aggie of the 2028 class and the highest rated Texas A&M commit since 2024 under the new Softball America ranking system.
She has home run power to the opposite field, with an elite ability to let the ball travel and transfer power. A plus receiver with a strong arm, she steals strikes for her pitcher, commands the field, and blocks well in the dirt.
